چکیده

Understanding the change in function of biological community under different soil conditions is key to effective quality monitoring and mitigation degradation. Current measures suffer from drawbacks with most techniques having high expense, low throughput or a narrow focus on one component community. The aim this study was assess use volatilomics as method profile microbial compare technique phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) profiling measure quality. An agricultural grassland (Eutric Cambisol) subjected range stresses replicate laboratory mesocosms. Treatments included imposition hypoxia/anoxia by flooding freshwater saltwater presence absence plant residues. volatile organic compound (VOC) PLFA each treatment then compared unamended We hypothesized that VOC fingerprint would be highly responsive changes metabolic status/functioning thus provide complementary approach PLFAs for evaluating health. also have greater discriminatory power than determining differences between treatments. A headspace solid phase microextraction (HSSPME) coupled gas chromatography quadrupole-time flight mass spectrometry (GC/Q-TOFMS) used analyse broad spectrum VOCs produced soil. Across all treatments 514 unique peaks were detected. Overall, showed sensitivity analysis separating Eighteen individual identified which primarily responsible separation (e.g. indole, α-ionone, isophorone, 3-octanone, p-cresol, 2-ethyl-phenol). In conclusion, our findings evidence rapidly respond therefore hold great potential novel functionally relevant diagnostic

Are Some Fungal Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Mycotoxins?

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are carbon-compounds that easily evaporate at room temperature. Toxins are biologically produced poisons; mycotoxins are those toxins produced by microscopic fungi. All fungi emit blends of VOCs; the qualitative and quantitative composition of these volatile blends varies with the species of fungus and the environmental situation in which the fungus is grown. T...

Microbial Production of Volatile Organic Compounds in Soil Microcosms

A study was conducted to evaluate the. use of volatile organic microbial metabolites, particularly geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol, as indicators of activity of specific groups of microorganisms (actinomycetes, bacteria, or fungi) in soil. Substrates and selective antibiotics were added to soil microcosms to establish different soil microbial communities; volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the...

The concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and related factors in the air in barbershops in Sanandaj in 2016

The aim of this study was to determine the density of benzene and toluene in barbershops of Sanandaj and also to determine effective factors for this pollution. A descriptive, analytical study was conducted to measure the volatile organic compound density and determine the effective factors. In this study, five hair salons and five barber shops were randomly selected from Sanandaj city. The vol...

Seasonal and diurnal variations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the atmosphere of Hong Kong.

Ambient VOCs samples were collected at three locations (PolyU campus (PU), Kwun Tong (KT), Hok Tsui (HT)) in Hong Kong during the periods of November 2000-February 2001 and June 2001-August 2001. Also the concentrations of VOCs in Cross Harbor tunnel in Hong Kong were obtained in order to determine the vehicular sources of VOCs. Toluene was the most abundant VOC detected in Hong Kong. At the PU...
